Online Food Ordering System

World Wide Web....it is a beautiful place to be with enormous possibilities.

One of the newest initiative in India amongst the restaurant owners is a service line blended in technology. You can now Order Food Online!!

Just as you would order your travel tickets, shop, send flowers, activate your account or avail any of the web based service, you can also order your delicious online.

Well, we(Indians) have been followers as well as leaders. Some one amongst us would have thought of this initiative long time ago…but hey, the implementation has been successful in International Markets. India is yet to develop infrastructure to support online service effectively.

Having said that, online food ordering promises to be one of the best service line up’s for the restaurant chains. This has been a fight where the quality of food, service of delivery, fine dinning etc.. have been distinct. Every restaurant owner promises the above, but hey, customer retention, pampering your customer etc.. have been followed by very few.

With this initiative you are not only pampering the needs of the customer by giving them privilege of ordering his food with few clicks, there are other barriers as well. Personalized phone call has been a preferred over and above all the time. But, it’s time to change & so is the service delivery. Some glitches like the re ordering, addition of few more items in the current order etc are not possible in any case. Well, I know that there has been so many instances where I have come across people who forget ordering the last desert/toppings on their orders, & moreover they remember once we are 15/20 minutes down the order time. So what do we do here? Well, no restaurant owner wants to re start this again, so here is the answer- instead of making your phone call snappy, you can always take you time browsing through the ingredients, food, juices, deserts etc.. which makes life little easy to imagine.

In International markets, a good amount of earnings are from Online food Ordering. Well, we are not talking about the interest level here, since we know how the wheel works. We are talking about the initiative level of understanding whether or not any restaurant owner would like to give this a shot.

It can never replace the traditional way of ordering your food, but hey! It can always be an helping hand in the dough. So, the food for thought now is the requisities. But, most of the technology providers work on a revenue share, so you do not have to worry about your estimates.

I am working on this initiative since 1 year in India, and have come across many restaurant owners who would still want to try their traditional ways. But, lack of understanding about technology creates a gap to be filled. The question is when & how, the answer can be anything depending upon the Interest.
